faeries can place curses on other faeries by using underhanded magic and crude techniques. it is frowned upon and seen as a rather lowbrow activity, commonly used among younger faeries coming to maturation. one of mika's acquaintances cast one upon her with the intention to kill her with her own blood. a curse like this cannot kill a faerie of my age, so i had her pass it along to me. the only way a curse can be passed is to have a willing participant. it will wear off.

And you expect me to do nothing the entire time?
If you're so set on being alone, then I'll speak to Mika.
I'm sure she'd be willing to give me more information about this faerie in exchange.

it is extremely likely that mika deserved this curse. although i am sure she will still want retribution. it sounds as though you are concerned for her as well.

will the two of you plot murder together? i suppose whoever crossed her path has it coming. i will not interfere, but mika must deliver the killing blow. a witch murdering a faerie is less desirable.

Killing anyone outright is messy.
I'd especially prefer to avoid it with a faerie.

Besides, I'm sure they already dislike me considering our relationship and what I've taught your daughter.

it is true that you are not held in high esteem. however, you likely will gain points with mika, at least. i am grateful for what you have done with her. i know she is not easy.

it is more than trust. you are ruthless and ambitious. you have a talent for deception. these are important traits for mika to have if she wishes to survive in faerie. sofija intended to raise her as a human. it is quite different from how the fae raise children. that is no longer an option.

These are the things you should be teaching her.
It's a responsibility I should have no part in.

What are you trying to do?

fae do not raise their children with such a hands-on approach. they learn to survive on their own, or die trying. i know sofija would not approve of those methods, but i have no talent for teaching children. do you dislike mika so much? i would not blame you.

Your daughter is human and fae. I am neither of those things.
